Devin Moore- Letters I-III (demo)

So you guys, my favorite novel is Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. I love it, I don’t care what you think unless you love it too then we’re cool. But one of my ~dreams~ is to put the story to music, and this is the first track I have completed. It’s in the form of a letter, and hopefully the lyrics will explain the rest:

To Mrs. Saville in England

July 7th, 17 something,

Oh, how rejoiced you must be

To learn no disaster has befallen me

Since I set to sea.

You know well more than anyone,

My sister, this voyage had to be done.

I was never meant for poetry,

No, words could never quell my curiosity

That I feel so ardently.

I’m bent on one great purpose

My time is waiting!

I’ve struggled all my life

To keep my name from fading.

Oh, endless glory!

The ages shall not ignore me.

In spite of my aspirations

Of grandeur, one thing I cannot endure

Is my want for a friend on this trip

To tether my mind to an unstable ship

When I am in need of it.

But, my sister, complaining is useless

A cold wind is blowing and pulling me through this.

I feel the North, and it’s calling for me

And so I must conclude my letter hastily,

I send all my love to thee.

I’m bent on one great purpose

My time is waiting!

I’ve struggled all my life

To keep my name from fading.

Farewell from your affectionate

Brother Walton.

My name is Walton, my name is…
